A club has been warned by the AFL after a convicted killer was invited into the inner sanctum of the change rooms post game.

Convicted killer spotted in Roaming Brian segment

It’s been revealed the AFL integrity unit was alerted after a convicted killer was spotted in the changerooms following an Essendon game earlier this year.

Kamil Yucel was seen on camera in the rooms during Channel 7’s Roaming Brian segment after Essendon’s win over Collingwood in round 17 in early July.

Yucel is a friend of recently delisted Essendon defender Nick Hind and is reportedly part of the same friendship group as forward Jake Stringer.

In the post-game segment, Seven commentator Brian Taylor approached Hind, who was chatting to Yucel.

Taylor asked Hind: “How do you know each other?”

Hind replied “You don’t want to know” before elaborating.

“We’re just good mates, just met him a few months ago and he looks after me,” he said.

“He looks after me and Jakey (Stringer),” Hind said as he embraced Yucel in the Essendon rooms.

“He does plenty, we catch up at a cafe everyday. We’re from different walks of life.”

The Herald Sun reports Yucel was imprisoned for five years for shooting a man dead in 2016.

Yucel, a kickboxer, plead guilty to manslaughter for the shooting death of aspiring cricketer Rahat Khan in Dallas in Melbourne’s north.

A court heard Mr Khan and a friend drove to Yucel’s street before the deadly altercation.

According to the Herald Sun, for at least a year Yucel Had been “living in fear of underworld figure Farshad Rasooli, who claimed he was owed money”.

On the evening of the fatal shooting, Rasooli had phone contact with Mr Khan, who went to the street where Yucel lived.

The AFL integrity unit spoke to Essendon after the sighting of Yucel in the club’s inner sanctum.

An Essendon spokesman confirmed to the Herald Sun the club had been contacted by the AFL’s integrity department and cautioned Essendon on the people who were granted guest access to the rooms after games.

Hind played 74 games for the Bombers after joining from St Kilda. He was delisted by the Bombers at the end of the season.

Stringer has one year left on his contract but is set to depart Essendon during the trade period after seven seasons at the Bombers.

The 30-year-old kicked 42 goals for the season but is set to be traded to the GWS Giants, with Essendon not willing to offer the forward a contract extension.
