Carlton spearhead Harry McKay has overcome his set shot yips to win the game for the Blues at the death in a comeback epic against Brisbane.
McKay took a strong pack mark with two minutes left on the clock and went back and converted the set shot from 45m — his third goal in what was a matchwinning performance.
The Blues looked dead and buried trailing by 46 points at one stage during the second quarter, but they came to life in the third quarter.
Hard-working Blue Matt Cottrell put his side in front midway through the third term as multiple lead changes ensued.

ROUND 0 ANALYSIS: SUPERCOACH BOLTERS, LOCKS AND MORE
10:25 TOP PERFORMERS
Wow. What a finish!
Of course it was Harry McKay who finished as the top-ranked player on the night with 129 SuperCoach points, with his final goal netting him plenty.
It was fairly even beyond that which is often the case in a close match.
Jarryd Lyons ($258k MID) gave SuperCoaches some food for thought with a score of 106 from 19 disposals and nine tackles, while Josh Dunkley (101) and Lachie Neale (112) also hit the ton.
A quiet final quarter saw Zac Williams finish on 73 points but the impressive display was surely enough for SuperCoaches to lock him in.
Another interesting score was from $123k midfield rookie Jack Carroll, who scored 60 points in the third quarter after coming on as the sub at halftime. He finished with 66 from 10 disposals, four clearances and a goal to enter the frame as a bench rookie for our midfields.
10:10PM COSTLY ERROR GIVES LIONS LEAD
Adam Saad will be wanting that moment back.
In a one-on-one with the dangerous Charlie Cameron, Saad read the ball in the air better and leapt for the ball but the Sherrin spilled through his hands.
This opened the door for Cameron who did as he usually does, crumbing the loose ball and snapping truly to give the Lions the lead back.
That’s the third lead change this quarter.

10:06PM NEALE SPURRING LIONS ON
Brisbane co-captain Lachie Neale has put the Lions on his back.
He has five disposals, two clearances and 33 points in the first half of the final quarter, including a deft pass to find Zac Bailey inside 50. He is up to 116 points in total.
9:59PM BLUES DENIED BY MILLIMETRES
After Zac Bailey kicked the first of the final term to put the Lions back in front, the Blues came millimetres from regaining the lead.
Matt Kennedy and Harry McKay tumbled into each other as the ball came towards the Blues goal, the Sherrin coming off Kennedy’s leg just above his knee.
The decision was reviewed by the ARC and ruled as a behind.
9:46PM BLUES LEAD BY A POINT AT BREAK
Charlie Cameron has missed an absolute sitter on the stroke of three-quarter time and the Blues take in a one-point lead into the final change.
Who saw that coming?!
Carlton piled on seven goals to one in a rampaging third-term and have all the momentum entering the final quarter.
Harry McKay leads all comers with 95 SuperCoach points, while discounted Lion Jarryd Lyons is on 89.
Zac Williams is up to 78 points from 18 disposals — 17 of those kicks — while Lachie Neale (83) has also been prominent.
And how about super sub Jack Carroll, who posted a whopping 60 points in a quarter of footy after winning six disposals and booting a goal after replacing Sam Docherty.

9:40PM BLUES TAKE LEAD
Harry McKay missed an earlier chance from directly in front, but he has hit this one flush from outside the arc to see the Blues pinch the lead back by two points.
He is the top-ranked Blue on the ground with 97 points with two goals and 10 disposals.
9:35PM LIONS BACK IN FRONT
Joe Daniher has put the Lions back in front, breaking their drought after using Blues defender Lewis Young as a stepladder.
Carlton had kicked eight consecutive goals before Daniher’s much-needed major.
It came after another hanger from high-flyer Lincoln McCarthy up the ground.

9:10PM SUPERCOACH STUD, BLUES STAR SUBBED
Brisbane defender Keidean Coleman has been subbed out after suffering a gruesome knee hyperextension seconds before the halftime siren.
The rebounder was tackled by a Blue which forced his right leg to twist awkwardly.
Carlton star Sam Docherty has also been substitued out of the match with a jarred knee he suffered in the opening term.
Docherty went down to the rooms but returned minutes later with strapping on his knee and played out the remainder of the first half.

8:47PM BLUES GET TWO BACK
David Cuningham put through the Blues’ third goal after a rare Carlton entry and then a dropped mark gifted Charlie Curnow a fortunate goal out the back.
The Lions lead by 33-points nearing halftime and that margin flatters the Blues if anything after Eric Hipwood and Charlie Cameron missed gettable set shots.
While clearances and disposals are relatively even, the Lions have peppered the Blues with 33 inside 50s to 19.
And after nailing an early set shot, Harry McKay shanked another from directly in front which would have been a big boost.
Remember Josh Dunkley?

8:16PM QT: STANDOUTS AND TOP SCORERS
It was only a quarter, but Zac Williams was very impressive.
In his return game, Williams is the top-ranked Blue at quarter time with eight disposals at 75 per cent efficiency, three marks and 30 SuperCoach points.
Dayne Zorko — a favourite of colleague Tim Michell — leads all comers with 56 points after booting two goals and tallying eight disposals. Is he an option at $480,600 as a FWD-MID?
There wasn’t much action for Keidean Coleman down back but he still managed to float up the ground to set up two goals.

You have to give credit to Zac Williams. 18 months out of the game and finishes the 1st QTR with an equal game high 8 disposals.

8:05PM DOCHERTY BACK AFTER INJURY SCARE
Blues fans can breathe a sigh of relief.
Carlton star Sam Docherty has returned to the field with heavy strapping after being sent down the race following an awkward fall on his right knee.
He was back at the centre bounce for the Blues suggesting it is only minor.
Brownlow medallist Lachie Neale went down into the rooms earlier in the first quarter but also returned to the field minutes later after having his shoulder assessed.
7:50PM POPULAR PICKS START HOT
Popular SuperCoach pick Keidean Coleman has started Brisbane’s season-opener against Carlton like he began last year’s grand final.
The rebounding defender’s ball-use has stood out early, assisting the Lions’ first two goals of the game as Hugh McCluggage converted a tough set shot from the boundary and Cam Rayner slotted one from close range.
Meanwhile, Zac Williams has also had plenty of the footy in his return, racking up five kicks inside the first 12 minutes of the match.
7:38PM STALWART HONOURED
Long-time club stalwart Nicole Duncan has been honoured with a minute’s silence after her tragic death from leukemia in January.
Duncan served as the club’s administrator manager for 31 years.
Brisbane great and Fox Footy’s Jonathan Brown regarded Duncan as a “superstar” and said she is close to irreplaceable.
7:05PM PLAYERS TO WATCH FOR SUPERCOACHES
The big watch will be on Zac Williams, but there are several other options worth keeping tabs on tonight.
We saw Keidean Coleman’s stellar finals series — particularly that first half of the grand final — and he is priced at just $398.8k in SuperCoach. The rebounding defender is likely to be on kick-in duties and is currently in 26 per cent of teams despite having a bye in round two.
While the percentage play is for coaches to bring him in after that bye as he will rise in price after his third game in round three, a big performance may tempt more to jump on board.
Meanwhile, I’ve got a slight watch on Cam Rayner as a smokey. Hear me out. More midfield time has been the talk for Rayner and his impact per possession is high. We’ll see if that comes to fruition tonight.
Meanwhile Lachie Neale and Josh Dunkley were popular options last year but are both in just four per cent of sides.
On the other side of the price spectrum, Orazio Fantasia is priced favourably at $175,900, while Jarryd Lions ($258,000 MID) is in the 22. In just one per cent of sides, his role is worth watching given his past exploits.
6:55PM ROUND 0 STOCKTAKE
While we wait for the Lions and Blues to do battle, check out our opening round SuperCoach stocktake.
SuperCoach experts Tim Michell and Al Paton have run through the key talking points from season-opener between Sydney and Melbourne, including a surprise rookie lock and what to do with Isaac Heeney.
I reckon I’m going with the blond bombshell.
6:40PM ROOKIES NAMED SUBS
He’s not a popular option, but Lions forward Kai Lohmann ($150,900 FWD) will start the night in the sub vest.
The dynamic goalkicker impressed in their final practice game where he came close to a SuperCoach ton, but the 4 per cent of teams who own him will likely have to look elsewhere.
Jack Carroll ($123,900 MID), who played just one AFL game last season for a sub-affected score of nine, will start as the sub for Carlton.
