Is it the time for the Crows to return Riley Thilthorpe to AFL level? The No. 2 pick has been building up his fitness after a knee injury and then Covid but a call-up to the senior side is close. Darcy Fogarty was goalless against Brisbane and had nine touches. Jordon Butts will get out of Covid-19 protocols ahead of the clash against St Kilda on Saturday night but will he have enough time to prove his fitness? Does Josh Rachele get a rest after a couple of quiet weeks.

Limited changes for the Lions who finally went a game without any major injuries. The VFL side had a week off but Mitch Robinson, Rhys Mathieson and Deven Robertson has all been impressing at the reserves level.

Hard to see too many changes for the Blues following one of the best wins of the season. Lewis Young will be monitored throughout the week to ensure he has recovered after missing last week due to AFL health and safety protocols. Zac Williams is out for the next 10 weeks with his calf injury, but as bad as that is, it could have been worse. Brodie Kemp hasn’t done a lot wrong, but Paddy Dow and Lachie Fogarty are pushing hard with consistent VFL form.

Expect plenty of changes for the Pies after their poor performance against the Bulldogs. All eyes will be on whether Jamie Elliott can prove his fitness after a long injury lay-off. Jordan Roughead might still be an extra week out. Scott Pendlebury and Jack Ginnivan should be back from illness and return. Depending on the weather, Craig McRae will consider bringing back Mason Cox and resting Aiden Begg, while it might be one week too early but Nathan Murphy might be needed as cover in Jack Madgen’s absence.

Gutsy midfielder Jay Caldwell was cleared of major damage to his shoulder but is unlikely to come up for Dreamtime at the ‘G’ while youngster Nik Cox hurt his foot in the reserves and is looking at a lengthy stint on the sidelines. It will be interesting to see if coach Ben Rutten wields the axe but there isn’t a lot pressing from underneath.

The Dockers should get Michael Walters and Sam Switkowski back as they look to respond following the shock loss to Gold Coast. Fremantle is also hopeful that Matt Taberner could be available but the clash against Collingwood could come a little too early for the key forward.

OUT: Knevitt (omitted)
Geelong expects defender Jed Bews to clear his concussion protocols and return to face Port Adelaide but the bigger – literally – question will be around Rhys Stanley’s ankle. The ruck has battled ankle issues the last few weeks and the Cats likely need his big body after Paddy Ryder led the Saints past the Cats last weekend. With Jonathon Ceglar (foot) slowly making his way back to fitness and teen Toby Conway (hip) due to play VFL for the first time this weekend and Esava Ratugolea (ankle) out until at least the bye, Geelong is short on talls. Each of Sam Menegola (knee), Shaun Higgins (soreness) and Jack Henry (foot) remain weeks away. The Cats may be tempted to call again on Cooper Stephens after being beaten up on the inside by St Kilda in a telling third quarter.

The Suns won’t tinker too much after a gritty win over the Dockers in the wet on Sunday. Youngster Alex Davies should come back in after he was managed last week while Jack Lukosius is still a few weeks away.

There won’t be wholesale changes at the Gaints under interim coach Mark McVeigh but we could see more positional movements. Suspect Tim Taranto and Stephen Coniglio might spend more time around the ball while Lachie Whitfield could find a more settled position. Brent Daniels and Daniel Lloyd aren’t far off from returning to the senior side but both might need a week in the reserves.

Key forward Jack Gunston is under a cloud after failing to finish the game against Richmond with an ankle injury. Defender Changkutoth Jiath should be ready to return from a hamstring injury which has seen him miss the past four matches. Midfielder Tom Mitchell was managed last week but could return for James Worpel, who has been struggling for form this season. Worpel has averaged just 15.6 disposals and 59 KFC SuperCoach ranking points this season.

OUT: J.Harmes (injured)
James Harmes suffered some hamstring tightness against the Eagles on Sunday night, which the Demons said was not a major concern and he could still face North Melbourne this week. However, if Harmes is out, Luke Dunstan would be in the mix to replace him after logging 31 disposals and kicking three goals in the VFL on Sunday. Sam Weideman (19 disposals, 6 goals) and Adam Tomlinson (27 disposals, six marks) were also good in that VFL match, in what was a 110-point win over North Melbourne.

Again you could drop 15 players if you wanted to but David Noble doesn’t have much option than to stick to what he’s got given North’s VFL side lost by 110-points on the weekend. At least three of his best players return in young gun Jason Horne-Francis, ex-Sun Hugh Greenwood and the rebounding Aaron Hall if fit from a hamstring injury.

Do the Power bring back Charlie Dixon for their huge clash against Geelong at the Cattery? As important as Dixon is for the Power, he might benefit from one more week in the SANFL. Providing he gets through all the tests the Power should get captain Tom Jonas back from Covid-19 protocols. Trent Dumont is another who will come back from protocols and he has carved out a role on the wing for the Power. After being the unused medical sub against North Melbourne Orazio Fantasia should play his first game of the season.

Richmond coach Damien Hardwick indicated on Saturday that first-gamer Bigoa Nyuon would remain in the team. First-year defender Josh Gicbus is available to return after missing the win over Hawthorn under AFL Health and Safety protocols, but if Nyuon stays in the side the Tigers might prefer to add an experienced head in Robbie Tarrant to replace Noah Balta (hamstring). Hugo Ralphsmith returned from broken ribs in the VFL on the weekend and was solid, putting his hand up for a recall. However, the Tigers have challenged Marlion Pickett’s one-game suspension, with his availability therefore up in the air.

Saints coach Brett Ratten talked up the progress of Mitchito Owens and Jack Bytel in the VFL but he’s unlikely to tinker much with a team that looked so impressive against the Cats. Jack Higgins is out under concussion protocols with Marcus Windhager doing enough coming on as the medi-sub to earn a full game this week. Jack Steele is the big out with a shoulder injury and while Hunter Clark would be an ideal fit, he’s set for one more week in the VFl after a long lay off.

The Swans looked like they found their mojo last week with the balance of their side after a few weeks of changes. Suspect John Longmire will look to settle this group for a few weeks. James Rowbottom the only forced change unless he can overturn his one-game suspension for a bump on Zach Merrett.

The injury problems are continuing to mount for the depleted Eagles. Liam Ryan suffered a hamstring injury in the loss to Melbourne while Luke Foley was concussed following a tackle by Kade Chandler. The Bulldogs got through their clash with Collingwood unscathed last Friday night and got back on the winners’ list.
