Aaron Shattock has moved out of intensive care following Gold Coast excavator incident

Former Brisbane Lions premiership player Aaron Shattock is “progressing well” as he continues his recovery from a Gold Coast excavator incident.

Former Brisbane Lions premiership player Aaron Shattock is “progressing well” as he continues his recovery after he was crushed by an excavator that rolled on top of him on the Gold Coast last month.

The Shattock family has revealed in their latest statement that after 25 days in intensive care he has been transferred to the ward to continue his recovery from the incident at the Gold Coast University Hospital.

“We are pleased to share that Aaron is progressing well following his accident,” the Shattock family’s statement read.

The news came after Shattock underwent a successful surgery to treat fractured ribs and a broken and dislocated arm on January 8.

“Once again, we extend a our heartfelt thanks to everyone for the incredible care, kindness and encouragement shown during this challenging time. Your support has meant so much to Aaron and his family,” the statement continued.

“We kindly ask that you respect Aaron’s need for time and space as he focuses on his recovery.”

An outpouring of support for Shattock, who has a strong connection to the Labrador Tigers dating back to 2007, had followed the incident.

At Labrador, Shattock was a player, assistant and head coach, as well as committee member. He is a life member of the QAFL club .
