A RUSTIC Brunswick cottage made famous in a Beyoncé film clip has sold with auctioneers riding a wave of social media — complete with an impersonator.
The house reached $650,000 — selling under the hammer while witnessed by 100 residents, media, fans and buyers who converged on the run-down Beith St property.
Vendors Jeanette and Roy Meadows were thrilled with the result.
“I never thought it would get that much,” Ms Meadows said.
“It’s over 100 years old.”
Auctioneer Steven James said the star factor definitely helped the sale.
“Two Beyoncé fans at the end, the gentleman who purchased it lived nearby,” he said
“The other one was a Beyonce fan, the under bidder as well.”
“It was a fantastic outcome and Beyonce has obviously helped the price.”
The buyer declined to comment.
The cottage was made famous in a Beyoncé film clip and was quoted with a $470,000 to $510,000 price tag.
The pop queen once graced the porch of 20 Beith St dressed in a leotard, fur coat and heels in her 2013 clip for “No Angel”.

And of course the megastar’s connection to the humble weatherboard home was heavily relied on to help in the pre-auction marketing campaign, with a Nelson Alexander listing for the property describing it as “most notably the scene of pop megastar Beyoncé’s ... video clip”.
At the time, selling agent Luke Sacco admitted the two-bedroom Edwardian was anything but flawless.
“It needs to be completely renovated,” Mr Sacco said of the home.
The house comes complete with peeling paint and a rusting tin roof, with cracked walls on the inside — which is perhaps the grungy look Beyoncé was after.
Mr Sacco had expected the house’s profile fame to drum up interest, but its prime position between Sydney Rd and Lygon St was expected to generate buzz too.
Beyoncé fans previously flocked to house after images of the megastar posing in front of it appeared on social media in October 2013.
Many have used it to replicate the shoot.
The home’s owner at the time, Jeanette Meadows, 80, was oblivious to her famous guest.
“When the man knocked on my door to ask if they could use my house to do the photos I thought he said they were with his fiance, not Beyoncé,” she said at the time.
“I didn’t even know who she was.”
Ms Meadows, who’d lived at the house with her husband Roy for more than 50 years, was paid $300 for the shoot.
The first open for inspection for the house is scheduled to take place on Saturday afternoon.
