The site of a historic Ringwood North homestead could be in for a massive overhaul with its owners looking to move on after more than a century of family ownership.
Treeby First National is selling the site of Rosebank North function centre and restaurant at 149-151 Warrandyte Rd, which hit the market in May.
The 2929sq m site is surrounded by rose gardens and has been a longstanding wedding venue with room for up to 120 guests and facilities including a chapel and gazebo.
Its restored homestead operates mainly as a restaurant and bar and has been doing takeaway dining specials during lockdown.
The Covid-19 outbreak has also halted progress for the sale of the site, which has potential to subdivided and be transformed to include units, a medical centre or childcare centre subject to council approval.
Treeby First National director Anthony Treeby said a heritage overlay was part of the site, but the homestead itself wasn’t heritage protected.
He said the vendors were hoping to sell the site for up to $3.8m and had received a handful of offers so far.
Mr Treeby said the site had been owned by the same family for more than 100 years and they and Rosebank North’s operators were both “prepared to move on depending on the prices”.
“The business is prepared to negotiate whether they sell or bring it to an end,” Mr Treeby said.
“It’s definitely a unique site, it’s right on top of the hill, and you have some great views and outdoor decking.
“The gardens are also substantial and there’s two land titles.”
The property’s listing stated that developers could also be attracted by the potential of creating “a brand new masterpiece or multi-dwelling development within easy walking distance to Ringwood North Shopping Centre”.
