The biggest deal makers in Melbourne’s real estate game have been revealed, including 15 agents who inked more than 100 sales in the past year.
Today’s top agents often harness the power of online technology and cutting edge marketing tactics to push through more deals in quick time than would have been possible in the 1990s and 2000s.
And their dedication to the job knows no bounds – working all hours, regardless of personal circumstance, and rarely taking a break from the job.

Victoria’s most prolific agent for sales is O’Brien Carrum Downs agent Michelle Stephens, offloading an impressive 244 properties in the past 12 months.
Ms Stephens said her success rate was a result of “crazy long hours” and signing deals no matter the time of day or night.
“I sold a house on my wedding night, and another at midnight when I was in Vegas,” she said.
“I work day and night and I’m there for my vendors because they trust me with their biggest asset to get the best result, and that’s what they pay me to do. I live and breathe real estate, I absolutely love it.”
She said the Carrum Downs area had a high turnover due to its affordable price range, with the average house price sitting at about $800,000.
Ms Stephens was named the No. 1 residential agent for the third consecutive year at the REA Excellence Awards in April.
The agents with the second and third highest number of sales were also based in Melbourne’s southeast — Area Specialist partner Hardeep Singh from Cranbourne, and Coco Ma from the same agency’s Keysborough branch.
Mr Singh, who racked up 139 sales, said he had only taken three holiday breaks since starting out in the industry in 2015.
The Cranbourne agent attributed his success to help from his family while he was on the road, including his parents and siblings who lived with him and helped take care of his children.
“But I’ll always be home in the evening,” he said. “The first thing is family and the second is hard work.”
Mr Singh said he often dealt with first-home buyers who made up about 50 per cent of the Cranbourne market.
Meanwhile, Ms Ma notched 129 sales for the year and said she always went the extra mile for her vendors when buyer levels were low.
“I rely on my network, when the market is tough and agents only use certain marketing methods, you can’t achieve very good results — you have to use all the platforms,” she said.
This includes listing properties on social media sites like Facebook and Instagram, as well as Chinese apps WeChat and Little Red Book, both popular with Chinese buyers and vendors who Ms Ma said made up a large proportion of her clientele.

“I speak Mandarin Chinese and my team members can speak multiple languages like Chinese, Cambodian and Vietnamese,” she added, noting her team’s language diversity helped them to engage with a larger buying and selling pool.
“I care about my clients and have patience, everything I do, I do from my heart.”
The Keysborough agent said she was always on the go, selling at least two properties each week and juggling work alongside two teenage children.
“My husband helps me, he drops the kids off and takes them to tutoring and guitar lessons, and I pick them up after open houses,” she said.
“I basically work six days but Sunday is family day and we go to church. Family always comes first.”
On the other side of the city, Barry Plant Taylors Lakes partner and auctioneer Andrew Koulaouzos ranked No. 4 with 122 sales, while C+M Residential director Claudio Cuomo was not far behind having sold 121 properties.
Other agents who snared more than 100 sales were mostly based in outer eastern and western suburbs, including Melton, Pakenham, Dandenong, Noble Park, Doncaster East, Werribee and Clayton.
Ray White Balwyn director Helen Yan was also among the top agents with 103 sold listings, after she cleared more than $300m in sales last financial year when ranking first in the Herald Sun’s top 50 women in real estate list.
