Chevron Island’s high-rise facelift is ramping up, with plans for another tower unveiled in the heart of the enclave’s residential streets.

Ben Scott Taylor has lodged fresh plans with the Gold Coast City Council for a 23-storey building on a 1012 sqm site on the corner Kalyan and Parneno streets.

The building is expected to have 76 units, which will mostly have between one and three units.

It will be topped by four two-storey, four-bedroom skyhome penthouses.

A pair of residential houses will be demolished to make way for the building.

A report lodged with council described the changing face of the Surfers Paradise island.

“Currently, Chevron Island comprises a mix of low to high-rise residential development ranging from detached dwellings to apartment buildings, much of which is older stock,” it reads.

“Several approvals for high rise apartment buildings have been granted on the island in recent years, with a significant number having recently started construction.”

Chevron Island sits within the unlimited height zone of Surfers Paradise.

More than 10 new towers have been proposed for the area in the past four years, though several are yet to be approved or begin construction.

Among the most recent to be proposed is a twin-tower development of 36 and 31 storeys, the largest single project ever proposed for the suburb.

The project was put forward by Si Bon Chevron, a company registered to a Southport address whose sole shareholder is 27-year-old Bonogin resident Cassidy Good.
