THE Brumbies are confident Test centre Pat McCabe can play in Friday’s Super Rugby clash against the Hurricanes but a question mark still hangs over star Wallabies flanker David Pocock.

Both players left the field during the Brumbies’ 27-14 win over Western Force in Perth on Saturday amid fears they may have suffered recurrences of injuries that ended their 2013 seasons.

However a second series of scans on Monday cleared McCabe of any serious damage, while Pocock’s Monday evening scan results aren’t expected to be available until Tuesday.

The Brumbies were concerned 25-year-old McCabe had suffered further damage to his neck, which he broke during the Wallabies’ spring tour of 2012 and re-injured against the British and Irish Lions last year.News_Rich_Media: Watch all the highlights from Perth as the Western Force take on the ACT Brumbies.

“It was just a stiffness from getting his neck stretched a little bit,” Brumbies coach Stephen Larkham said on Monday.

“He’s got a little bit of damage to the muscle around there, but he’s looking good for this weekend.”

While concerns remain that Pocock has damaged his reconstructed knee, he has reportedly shown positive signs of mobility since Saturday.

Regardless, his scans will be sent to the Brisbane surgeon who operated on his knee.

Larkham said he wouldn’t conjecture who might cover for Pocock at No.7 for the Hurricanes clash in Wellington until he’d received the results from his scans.
