Shocking footage has emerged of a plane crashing into a warehouse in the US which left two people dead and 18 others injured.
Security camera footage from Rucci Forged, a wheel manufacturer across the street, captured the moment a fireball erupted as the plane nosedived into the roof of the furniture manufacturing building near Fullerton Municipal Airport in Orange County, before a thick plume of black smoke could be seen billowing from the site seconds later.
Local media reported that disturbing audio from the incident indicated the flight went suddenly and horribly wrong.
More than 100 people evacuated the area following the crash about 2.09pm (local time) on Thursday, the Fullerton police department said.
The Federal Aviation Administration identified the aircraft as a single-engine Van’s RV-10.
According to flight tracker data, the plane left the small airport - located just 10kms from Disneyland - about 2.07pm before crashing just two minutes later, about 0.8km away from where it took off.
The plane had just taken off when the pilot radioed in that they needed to land immediately, according to audio from the air traffic control tower.
In the audio, the pilot initially said he was going to land on Runway 6, prompting the air traffic controller to tell another aircraft to turn away from that area.
The air traffic controller then told the pilot that either Runway 6 or 24 were clear for landing.
The pilot then changed his mind for an unknown reason and said he was going to land on Runway 24.
Less than a minute later, the pilot panicked and an “Oh my God” could be heard before the pilot’s audio went quiet.
It was not yet clear whether the two people who died were inside the aircraft.
