Mexican authorities have made another chilling find in an area of where two Australians and one American were reported missing.

Three arrested amid search for Aussie brothers missing in Mexico

Authorities have found a fourth body in a search for two Australians and one American who were reported missing in Mexico.

Overnight it had been revealed that three bodies had been found but had not been identified. Now local news outlet Zeta is reporting a fourth body has been found and is that of a ranch owner who had been missing for several weeks.

According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, the remains were found in a well more than 15m deep next to a cliff at Punta San José in Santo Tomás, in the municipality of Ensenada, near a remote surfing spot known as Lighthouse.

Aussie brothers Callum, 33, and Jake Robinson, 30, as well as US national Jack Rhoad, 30, were last known to have been in Rosarita, in Mexico’s Baja California region, on April 27.

As well as finding bodies overnight, authorities confirmed tents had also been found where the men were believed to be staying.

Disturbing campsite details

Before the discovery of the bodies, local police had suspected foul play as their burned-out car was found as well as an abandoned campsite with traces of blood and ‘dental parts’, reported local news outlet Zeta. 7News has also reported a tooth was discovered.

The revelation comes as the heartbroken parents of the two Perth brothers are flying to Mexico.

The three were on holiday near Ensenada, south of the US border.

Earlier on Friday, the Baja California Attorney-General Maria Elena Andrade Ramirez said three Mexicans had been arrested.

A ute believed to have been used by the brothers was found south of Ensenada.

“A working team is at the site where they were last seen, where tents and other evidence was found that could be linked to these three people we have under investigation,” Ms Ramirez said.

“There is a lot of important information that we can’t make public. We do not know what condition they are in.

“All lines of investigation are open at this time. We cannot rule anything out until we find them.”

Local media also reported that Mexican police arrested a woman who had a phone belonging to one of the brothers.

Eerie final posts

It comes after the three young men shared eerie final social media posts from their trip, where they were seen having the time of their lives on the beach.

Baja California, where the men shared their vacation snaps, is known as one of Mexico’s most violent states.

They were seen relaxing at Rosarito Beach, where they were said to be surfing and camping as they moved up and down Mexico’s west coast.

They reportedly planned to move on to Ensenada, about 80km down the coast, but concerns were raised when they failed to check into an Airbnb on Sunday.

The final picture posted to Callum’s Instagram showed the group had made it to San Miguel beach in Ensenada before vanishing.

“... and it begins,” Callum had captioned an image of the ute at the beach, alongside an emoji of the Mexican flag, at the start of the trio’s doomed trip.

The Robinson brothers had attended Coachella before going to Mexico to surf.

Callum was based in the US where he was an accomplished lacrosse player known as ‘the Big Koala’, and Jake, who worked in regional hospitals across Australia, had flown out two weeks ago to visit him.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade said they were continuing to provide consular assistance to the Robinson family.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese described the brothers’ disappearance as “a really concerning situation”.

“Our embassy in Mexico is working with local authorities as well to try to ascertain what has happened here,” he told Seven’s Sunrise program on Friday.

“We certainly hope that these brothers are found safely but there is real concern about the fact that they’ve gone missing.

“Their mother is obviously very distressed about this and we just hope for a positive outcome.”

The Brothers’ parents Debra and Martin Robinson said Callum had been living in the US to follow his dream of becoming a professional lacrosse player.

“He is widely known in the US as the Big Koala,” they said.

“We think of him as our big, soft, friendly giant.”

Jake only left Australia two weeks ago to visit his brother.

“It was a trip of a lifetime to see his brother, before shortly taking up a new position at Geelong Hospital in Victoria,” the parents said.

“Callum and Jake are beautiful human beings. We love them so much and this breaks our heart.”
