Terrifying thermobaric missiles capable of melting human organs have been put on full display in a Russian propaganda video.

Footage shows Vladimir Putin’s soldiers loading the powerful weapons into what is believed to be a Solntsepek 24-barrel multiple rocket launcher.

The missiles are then launched into the sky before crashing into the ground and creating a cloud of thick smoke.

It’s unclear when the footage was taken but it has been shared on semi-official Russian Telegram channels, according to The Mirror.

Dubbed “heavy flamethrowers” by the Russian military, the bombs work by discharging a fuel mixture as a cloud which detonates resulting in a huge fireball, a massive wave and a vacuum which sucks surrounding oxygen.

Victims can be killed by the blast or the shockwave that follows, and the ensuing vacuum can melt peoples organs.

The bombs are not banned under international law but when used in civilians areas could be considered a war crime.

Earlier this month, Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch said Russian forces appeared to have used the weapons in the war on Ukraine.

Amnesty claimed the bombs were used in an attack at a preschool in northeastern Ukraine while civilians took shelter inside.

Oksana Markarova, Ukraine’s ambassador to the United States, told reporters that Russia had used the vacuum bomb.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said if the reports are true “it would potentially be a war crime”.

Australia has announced more sanctions against Russia over the invasion of Ukraine, immediately banning all exports of alumina and bauxite, while pledging more weapons and humanitarian assistance.

Mr Morrison said Australia had levelled 476 sanctions against Russian individuals and institutions since the invasion began.

He announced Australia would donate 70,000 tonnes of thermal coal to Ukraine, following a request from the besieged nation.

“We understand that it can power up to one million homes,” he said.

In addition, Australia will boost its humanitarian assistance with an additional $30 million and will donate a further $21 million in defensive military assistance to Ukraine, including ammunition and body armour.
