Prince Andrew: Beatrice and Eugenie hold meeting with Prince Charles

A royal biographer has claimed “there’s no chance” Prince Andrew can return to royal life, despite ‘intense’ talks with the Queen.

An unofficial biographer has criticised Prince Andrew’s attempt to rebrand himself following his involvement with Jeffrey Epstein, according to The Sun.

Epstein committed suicide in July 2019 in jail where he was serving time for sex trafficking offences that involved minors.

The Duke of York, 62, supposedly held “intense” talks with the Queen, 96, to establish a route back to royal life at Balmoral earlier this month.

However, royal biographer Nigel Cawthorne referred to him as the royal family’s “square peg” and urged them to thwart his attempt at redemption.

Mr Cawthorne, author of Prince Andrew: Maxwell, Epstein and the Palace, told Express.co.uk: “The question is, who wants him back?

“Does any charity want him as a patron? Or any regiment want him as their colonel?”

He added: “Given the fact that it was a three-day summit, it is clear that even the palace and the Queen realise that Prince Andrew can never return to the royal frontline.

“He is the royal’s square peg and it is difficult to sanction anything he can do apart from retire given the fact that any new career will have a public angle and tarnish the Firm afresh with tawdry stories connected to the Prince.”

It comes as the daughters of Prince Andrew have reportedly asked Prince Charles to let their father return to royal duties during a tense summit in Scotland.

Prince Charles, The Sun reports, rejected the plea to give the Duke of York a way back to royal life, telling them: “There’s no chance.”

The future king is reportedly “resolute” that the Queen’s decision to strip Prince Andrew of his royal roles and use of the HRH title must not be reversed, sources told The Sun.

The meeting with Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie was held over tea and biscuits at his home on the Birkhall Estate in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, The sun reports.

It came days after the Duke of York had a “business meeting” with Charles at the same venue to argue his case.

Prince Andrew has exited royal life following a series of embarrassing controversies, including his BBC Newsnight interview in 2019 in which he spoke of his friendship with the late disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.

Epstein trafficking victim Virginia Roberts Giuffre accused Andrew of sexually assaulting her three times in 2001 when she was 17.

Prince Andrew, who has vehemently denied any wrongdoing, and Ms Giuffre eventually reached an out-of-court settlement in New York in February.

Beatrice, Eugenie and Prince Andrew’s former wife Sarah Ferguson have stood by him throughout.

A source told The Sun: “Andrew desperately wants and needs something to do with his life.

“The past few years since he stepped down after the Epstein interview have taken their toll and losing his royal roles has left him with next to nothing.

“His family are close so it’s natural Beatrice and Eugenie want to get involved. They were only looking out for their father and this latest development shows just how intense everything is getting.

“But there will be no return to public royal duty for Prince Andrew.”
