ISIS has delivered a chilling “lone wolves” terror attack threat on the upcoming Paris Olympics in a vile propaganda message.
The terror group posted a sick manipulated image showing one of its terrorists seemingly flying an “armed drone” to attack the iconic Eiffel Tower, The Sun reports.
The poster, promoted by ISIS-linked social media channels, was captioned: “Lone wolves’ Olympics have begun with the Will of Allah.”
France is already on high alert after a string of alerts made by Islamic terror outfits.
An alleged plot for an “Islamist-inspired” attack on the Olympics was foiled last week after the arrest of an 18-year-old Chechen immigrant to France.
Rokhman B is suspected of organising an attack on a football game in Lyon and allegedly planned to “die a martyr” by killing spectators or police officers.
France’s interior ministry said the teenager had been detained for “actively preparing an attack against the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium (in Saint-Etienne) during the football games that will take place there.”
Six football matches from the men’s and women’s tournaments will take place at the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium between July 24 and 31 as part of the Olympics.
An investigating source told The Sun: “His first attack has been foiled.”
The teenager, who was not known to the police and had moved to France with his family from Russia only last year, is currently in custody and being linked to Islamist groups.
He is believed to have already carried out reconnaissance on stadiums with police finding videos and pictures on his phone and laptop in support of ISIS.
During a search, anti-terror cops found a photo of the stadium on a computer, as well as videos.
Paris Olympics officials promised a ring of steel at the opening ceremony amid fears it may have to be moved due to terror threats.
SUSPECT IN PARIS PRE-OLYMPICS BLAST CHARGED WITH TERROR CRIMES
A Ukrainian-Russian man detained in France was charged last Friday with plotting to commit a violent act in a “terrorist” plot, the National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office said.
The man had just arrived in France, the prosecutors said.
France’s domestic intelligence agency had earlier detained the man, aged 26, on suspicion of planning a violent act after he injured himself in an explosion.
The investigation will continue to identify other people “who may be involved”, the prosecutors said.
The suspect was charged with participation in a “terrorist conspiracy” and possession of a substance or explosives with a view to harming people, the prosecutors said.
The injured man was treated by a fire brigade last week after “he suffered serious burns following an explosion”, the National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office (PNAT) said.
“Products and materials intended to manufacture explosive devices” were found in his hotel room, the PNAT said.
After receiving medical treatment, he was taken into custody. According to two sources close to the case, the man stayed at a hotel in the town of Roissy-en-France, home to the Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport.
A source asking not to be named told AFP that the man was from the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine, part of which has been occupied by pro-Russian and Russian forces since 2014.
He appeared to have a “pro-Russian attitude” after fighting “for two years for the Russian army”, the source added.
He was charged as France was hosting US President Joe Biden and Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy following commemorations of the 80th anniversary of D-Day landings in Normandy.
