Meghan Markle has described herself as being “one of the most bullied people in the world,” while meeting a group of young girls through a mental health advocacy group in the US.
The Duchess of Sussex allegedly made the comment while at a screen-free day with young girls and teenagers at an event hosted by Girls Inc. of Greater Santa Barbara in partnership with #HalfTheStory.
#HalfTheStory’s founder Larissa May claimed to Vanity Fair in an interview published Friday that Markle made he comment while talking to the girls
“We did an activity where we talked through a bunch of scenarios, and Meghan talked about being one of the most bullied people in the world,” May recalled.
“We had girls wave these little emoji signs and talk about how each one of these scenarios would have impacted them emotionally.”
Markle and Prince Harry’s Archewell Foundation have not publicly commented on the claim but sources told The New York Post she “talked about her experience with online bullying but never claimed she was the most bullied person in the world”.
Markle supports #HalfTheStory as part of her and Prince Harry’s Responsible Technology Youth Power Fund for their Archewell Foundation.
She visited the girls to hear about a new digital wellness program being created.
May also told Vanity Fair: “We really wanted to make sure that the teens at #HalfTheStory were able to give their input on the type of experience that we would create.
“Ultimately, we thought the best way to do that was to create a space of vulnerability.”
#HalfTheStory provides programming to help teens with body image, friendships, healthy digital habits and safety from sexual predators.
It comes as Markle, 43, and Prince Harry, 40, launched The Parents’ Network, which supports parents who lost children directly or indirectly over online bullying in August.
Her latest solo outing comes after she also stepped out to support the Children’s Hospital LA Gala.
Markle showed off a fresh look at the gala event as Prince Harry extended his trip of South Africa after being in London for the WellChild Awards.
Speaking on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive Live show, royal experts Arthur Edwards and Jennie Bond lifted the lid on the power couple’s recent time apart.
Former royal photographer Edwards revealed how the pair are “doing things separately now” after failing to be spotted together in recent weeks.
Meanwhile Bond, a royal correspondent for the last 35 years, also revealed: “Meghan is not popular.
“She doesn’t want to come back and they are going their own ways, to some extent”.
“I think that they have realised or decided that they can work at certain projects far better when they’re separate,” Ms Seward added.
“That’s the situation with a lot of couples thinking way back when Charles and Diana were married.
“I know that their marriage was very difficult, but they did a lot of things together, and then they did a huge amount of things separately, and it worked very well that way, so it could just be a similar situation.”
