British model Rebekah Vardy may be less of a mysterious girl after revealing why she compared the penis of Aussie singer Peter Andre to a “small chipolata” sausage.
During her high-court battle with WAG Coleen Rooney, Vardy said she regretted describing an entanglement in a 2004 interview headlined: “Peter’s hung like a small chipolata, shaved, slobbery, lasts five minutes.”
But Andre, 49, says the admission brings little comfort after being the “butt of all jokes” since the early 2000s.
In a series of Instagram videos, Andre, 49, hit out at the double standard at the lack of outrage while the slur was repeated “again and again and again” without regard for a man’s mental health.
“I kept quiet, I didn’t say anything, and I let everyone have their laugh, I let everyone say what they wanted to say, OK,” Andre said to the camera, dressed in a robe.
“Yes, now she has gone to court and admitted that the story was made up and she did that because her ex-husband forced her to do it, fair enough,” he continued.
“But put that all aside right and just think how that feels, if a man, or if I had said this about her anatomy, or a man said something about a woman’s anatomy, and made up something saying... I dunno, saying whatever, you can use your imagination, of saying something very unflattering, there would be absolute outrage.
“There would be absolute outrage. But because it has been said about me it’s been the butt of all jokes, I’ve taken it for 15 years.”
Andre brushed aside suggestions he should just “get over it”, adding that it’s more serious than a joke and unfair that it’s broadcast to millions when it “goes on and one”.
“And what’s even worse is it’s brought up in a High Court, and the lawyer is bringing it up, having a go at her, for bringing up something in News of the World that went to four million people. And then it’s brought up in court that goes to a lot more than four million people,” he said.
“And the only one that sits there and takes hit after hit about it is me. And I’ve been laughing about it for a while. But think about how it would feel if it was the other way around. And that’s all I’m saying.”
Vardy was asked about the kiss-and-tell interview during the legal battle, dubbed the “Wagatha Christie” trial, against the wife of former Manchester United star Wayne Rooney.
She told the court that she was “forced into the situation” by her ex-husband, adding it’s “something that I deeply regret”.
“It is not nice to read and I understand why this is being used,” she said.
Vardy is suing Mrs Rooney for publicly accusing her of leaking “false stories” about Mr Rooney’s private life to the media in 2019.
Andre captioned his Instagram video apologising to his wife, Emily, and their children for having to “see and hear some not very nice things”.
“Here I was this morning sat in my robe feeling like I had to say something. Feel free to come to your own conclusion,” he wrote.
“You all know I like to take the piss out of myself but Maybe I felt a bit vulnerable this morning. Love from an Aussie Brit Greek.”
