The Full House star known for her “How Rude!” catchphrase starred in different kid of viral video while protesting the Supreme Court ruling over abortion laws in the United States.

Jodie Sweetin, 40, appeared to be grabbed and shoved down an embankment onto a concrete freeway where a huge crowd had gathered in Los Angeles to protest the overturning of Roe v Wade, which codified the right to an abortion into federal law.

Sweetin played middle child Stephanie Tanner in the iconic comedy alongside Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Bob Sagat, and John Stamos.

She reprised the role in the Fuller House reboot.

Protests continued across the country with dozens of arrests and several hundred demonstrators gathering outside the high court to hold candlelight vigils.

The footage, filmed by photographer Michael Ade, showed the 40-year-old leading a group of activists down a freeway in downtown Los Angeles as they approached a line of police officers blocking the road.

“It pained me to see @JodieSweetin thrown to the ground by members of the LAPD as she was trying to lead a group of peaceful protesters away from the freeway,” Mr Ade posted on Instagram.

Wearing a black T-shirt and pants, Sweetin held a megaphone as she approached the side of the freeway that led to a grassy embankment to the side.

She seemed to loose her footing as she fell back down the hill, stumbled on the kerb and skidded across the ground.

“no justice, no peace” on the megaphone.

Ms Sweetin said she was “extremely proud” of the hundreds of people who showed up near the 101 Freeway to protest the Supreme Court decision.

At least eight imposed immediate bans on abortion — many with exceptions only if a woman’s life is in danger — and a similar number to follow suit within weeks.

Police fired tear gas on protesters in Arizona. A pick-up truck drove through a group of protesters in Iowa. In Virginia, Lynchburg police were investigating vandalism at an anti-abortion pregnancy centre. Colorado police suspected an arson attack at another anti-abortion centre in Longmont, which was painted with graffiti reading: “If abortions aren’t safe, neither are you.”
