Working mum Meghan instructs us on how to make your own bath salts and arrange flowers

Europe correspondent Sophie Elsworth watched With Love, Meghan back-to-back. Here’s her take on the Duchess of Sussex’s latest Netflix series and whether or not you should binge.

'With Love, Meghan' series premiere on Netflix

Meghan Markle is a working mum, a former Girl Scout who sold cookies as a kid and growing up she “didn’t have a lot”.

If this doesn’t set the scene, sitting down and watching eight episodes of “With Love, Meghan” will.

The mother-of-two is now busy spending hours baking cakes, making homemade bath salts and even has time to make her own candles.

This latest Netflix series isn’t without plenty of cringe moments, where Meghan wheels out her stream of rich friends before trying to give off the impression she likes the simple things in life after coming from an underprivileged family.

Things like spending the morning collecting chook eggs, cutting flowers, gift wrapping and even taking part in some precious skincare rituals, of course, and doing all these things while dressed in pretty, crisp, white ensembles.

For a working mum she certainly has a lot of spare time to spend smelling the roses and enjoying the finer things in life, like whipping up charcuterie boards and making focaccia bread.

If you can spare yourself about five or six hours to get through this series, you will likely be wondering what it’s like to have a mansion with an enormous garden – let alone being able to put aside hours in your day hosting family get-togethers, baking cakes and creating aesthetically-pleasing flower arrangements.

But if you are time poor, watching the final episode is probably enough, the one where Meghan puts on a midmorning feast for her nearest and dearest including Prince Harry and her mother Doria Ragland.

Unsurprisingly, no invites or mentions were made of her other family members including her father Thomas or stepsister Samantha.

It’s in the last five minutes or so that Meghan, who has ditched the surname Markle for Sussex, declares, “It’s time for a new chapter.”

The arrival of her husband and mother allows for a midmorning toast of mimosas and Meghan boasting that as last she’s been given that chance to get her “creativity” back.

“This feels like a new chapter that I’m so excited that I’m able to share and I’ve been able to learn from all of you,” she says glowingly.

“So I just thank you for all your love and support and here we go, as a business.”

This latest attempt for Markle, sorry Sussex, to have a hit Netflix series is certainly a questionable one.

It’s only worth sitting down and watching if you’re prepared for some cringe-worthy moments that will leave you likely wanting to hit the ‘off’ button.
