A video of US pro golfer Bryson DeChambeau playing golf with Donald Trump has gone viral, amassing millions of views.
Less than 21 hours after the 55-minute episode of the two playing golf together was posted on YouTube, it had already surpassed four million views and led to DeChambeau eclipsing one million subscribers on his channel “Breaking 50” series.
The video was also number one on YouTube’s trending list, as well as topping DeChambeau’s most popular video – a 9-hole match with fellow US pro golfer Phil Mickelson filmed in August 2023 at The Greenbrier in West Virginia.
DeChambeau invited the former president to join him on his series, in which DeChambeau attempts to shoot a round of fewer than 50 strokes, with money raised for the Wounded Warrior Project.
At one point in the video after hitting a tee shot onto the green on a par 3, Mr Trump mocked President Joe Biden, who on Sunday dropped out of the 2024 presidential race.
“You think Biden can do that? I don’t know. We had an argument about golf. Can you believe it?,” Mr Trump said, referencing the golf spat from their debate last month.
Mr Trump’s ear isn’t bandaged so the round of golf was played before the July 13 assassination attempt in Pennsylvania.
While DeChambeau, who left the PGA Tour for LIV Golf in 2022, missed the cut at last week’s British Open, he had a strong year at the majors, finishing tied for sixth at the Masters and second at the PGA Championship.
DeChambeau’s “Break 50” series has included videos with the likes of Spanish pro golfer Sergio Garcia and influencer Paige Spiranac.
