A chilling animated video has shown how far down the missing Titanic submersible could be in the depths of the Atlantic Ocean as search teams race against time to save the doomed vessel.

The harrowing 3-D clip, created by Spanish animation company MetaBallStudios, depicts a virtual underwater seascape filled with global landmarks to show just how deep the missing Oceangate Titan sub could be.

Multiple landmarks are also shown in the water including the Eiffel Tower, the Statue of Liberty and Burj Khalifa to show the scale of the search.

The footage marks out major lakes, seas and shipwrecks to compare just how far down the missing crew could be.

Eventually, viewers are taken to a depth of around 3,800 metres, the bottom of the North Atlantic, where the wreckage of the Titanic lies.

The search for the Titan submersible has become increasingly desperate and some of the world’s most advanced underwater search equipment has been deployed to search the Atlantic.

On board the pod are British billionaire adventurer Hamish Harding, businessman Shahzada Dawood, his son Suleman, OceanGate’s chief executive and founder Stockton Rush, and French submersible pilot Paul-Henri Nargeolet.

Earlier, the US Coast Guard confirmed reports of underwater “banging” noises in the search site, but said the dtat was “inconclusive”.

US Coast Guard Captain Jamie Frederick said: “There is an enormous complexity associated with this case, due to the location being so far off shore and the co-ordination between multiple agencies and nations.

“There were multiple reports of noises and every one of them is being analysed.

Remote-operated vehicles (ROVs) have investigated the area but have been unable to locate the source of the noise.
