Lindsay Jo Rimer who was found murdered in a canal 30 years ago, now a stolen red Honda Civic could reveal new clues.

A stolen red Honda Civic could unlock the cold case of a 13-year-old girl who ducked out one night to buy cornflakes, and was later found dead in a canal.

Lindsay Jo Rimer lived in West Yorkshire in the UK when she was strangled to death and dumped in the water, weighed down by a 9kg stone.

Her killer has never been found.

It took police five months from the night Lindsay went missing to find her body, with two canal workers making the grim discovery on April 12 in 1995.

A stolen red Honda Civic was found abandoned in the nearby city of Sheffield 10 days after her disappearance, with The Sun reporting it could still hold clues to her murder.

Detectives attempted to find the driver of the stolen car, which had been taken from Leeds and spotted in the teenager's neighbourhood.

The driver was reportedly seen trying to speak to schoolgirls near the local shop Lindsay was last seen at.

These investigations have not led police to any leads, while the teenager’s mother, Geri, always said she “believes that someone from this community did this to Lindsay”.

Lindsay left her family home the night of November 7, 1994, to buy some cornflakes from a corner shop nearby.

This is the last time she was seen alive before her body was discovered.

She has been remembered as “a typical schoolgirl” who was “conscientious and a happy kid”, delivering the morning paper and had “a growing interest in fashion.”

The teen was survived by her parents, Geri and Gordon, her two sisters, Kate and Juliet and her brother Daniel.

Since her murder two different men have been arrested but then subsequently released without any charge.

A 63-year-old man from Bradford was arrested in 2016 and released on bail, then in April 2017, a 68-year-old man also from Bradford was arrested but later released without charge.

The investigation into Ms Rimer’s murder is ongoing.
