The Sydney teenager accused of stabbing Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel mentioned the priest’s prolific use of social media as he was restrained and then uttered: “He p----d me off, every single video is about my Prophet … if he just spoke about his religion, I wouldn’t have come”, police allege in court documents.

The boy, 16, allegedly set upon the bishop in an attack that was inadvertently live streamed online and then sparked widespread rioting at the Christ the Good Shepherd Church in Wakeley on April 15.

According to a police fact sheet against another boy arrested in related anti-terror raids last week, the boy charged over the bishop’s stabbing allegedly told churchgoers and police as he was being arrested that he attacked the bishop over his comments on Islam on social media.

“He p----d me off, every single video is about my Prophet, just shut your mouth, stick to your own religion cuz, stick to your own religion, that’s it, but nah, he wants to bring up my religion in every single video he has c--t,” the boy allegedly said.

The attack on Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel was streamed around the world.

“What’s with that brother? If he wasn’t cursing/disrespecting the Prophet, I wouldn’t have come here.

“He involved himself in my religion … I wouldn’t have come here but he involved himself in my religion”.

The boy is also alleged to have said: “If he just spoke about his religion, I wouldn’t have come, but, no, he involved himself”.

Bishop Emmanuel, an Assyrian Australian, is a prolific user of social media and has already posted two messages as he recovers from the stabbing, one confirming he was on the mend and another in support of video footage of him being attacked remaining online.

Police seized the boy’s phone and found a social media account under a name that included the word “jihad” in it, the fact sheet states.

Following the attack, the other boy, 15, who was arrested in anti-terror raids last Wednesday, allegedly reposted an Instagram story praising the attack on the bishop, according to the fact sheet.

He also is alleged to have sent an audio recording in which someone says “anyone who talks about the prophet deserves to be slaughtered/bashed” while praising the boy who allegedly stabbed the bishop.

Police say the 15-year-old boy, who said he knew the bishop’s alleged attacker, went onto write: “I guarantee that Assyrians will attack Muslims again, if they do then they’re getting dealt with”.

However, a person speaking with the 15-year-old cautioned against him acting rashly and wrote: “I don’t think they will, they called out to us to sort it, they know what will happen if it continued, now if something happens we have right to attack, but for now it’s peace”.

The 15-year-old then allegedly wrote: “A lot of my boys were getting ready to attack them with, I’m spewing that it’s peace now”.

Both teenagers are charged with terrorism offences and remain before the courts. No pleas have been entered.
