Wild footage of man bungee jumping off a bridge near Perth has gone viral on social media.
A man wearing nothing more than black boardies and a bungee rope can be seen jumping from the 20m tall Dawesville Bridge in Mandurah, about 70km south of Perth.
As the man plummets towards the Mandurah Estuary below, he swings towards two concrete pylons narrowly missing one.
He avoids any misfortune and as slowly swings to a halt.
Amused onlookers captured the footage from a nearby pub, which has been shared by the Bell Tower Times 2.0.
The video has been viewed more than 285,000 times since it was posted online on Friday receiving mixed reactions from people
Sammii Bee said, “It gave me serious anxiety watching that.”
“Unemployed, unemployable, retired, bored, stupid or all of the above?” commented Christine Jackson.
“I thought that the place had a few swingers down there. And yep they even play bridge,” Chuck Stancer joked.
“All fun and games until someone lands crooked and snaps their neck,” said Barbara Davenport.
“Best use of 24 occy straps I’ve ever seen,” quipped Ross Meyer.
In 2009, 19-year old body board champion Wade McCurdy’s body was recovered from the water after he jumped off the bridge with friends and did not resurface.
Earlier this month, the City of Mandurah Council chief executive officer Casey Mihovilovich told concerned residents at an annual elector’s meeting she would work with authorities to stamp out bridge jumping.
“This seemingly innocent act can be extremely dangerous and lead to serious injuries, and it’s paramount we keep the community safe,” she told the Mandurah Times.
