A rideshare driver has allegedly been assaulted and had his car stolen after dropping off a passenger in Perth’s northeast in a wild aggravated robbery.

The driver called police about 12.45am on Sunday after his silver Kia Cerato hatchback was allegedly stolen after he dropped off a 31-year-old man and three others on Currong Way in Nollamara.

The 31-year-old man then allegedly assaulted the driver before driving out of the Nollamara in the stolen car, while the other three people who were with the man fled the scene on foot.

Police spotted the car about 3.10am Abernethy Road in High Wycombe, however the driver attempted to evade officers.

Police will allege the man failed to stop and drove recklessly through High Wycombe and Burswood before a tyre deflation device was deployed.

The driver then abandoned the car on Goodwood Parade about 3.25am and attempted to run.

However, after a short foot chase, the 31-year-old was taken into custody.

He has since been charged with one count each of reckless driving to escape pursuit by police, driver of a vehicle failed to comply with a direction to stop, driver failed to stop, drove a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, no authority to drive, aggravated robbery and steal motor vehicle.

The man is set to front the Perth Northbridge Magistrates Court on Sunday.
