A man has allegedly been set alight on his own doorstep.

Police allege the man, aged in his 40s, was confronted at his home in Balvidis about 46km south of Perth about 1.30pm on December 30.

CCTV footage appears to show the man speaking with two men – one of whom appears to armed and the other carrying a blowtorch – with being doused in an apparently flammable liquid and set alight.

The alleged victim is immediately engulfed in flames in what WA Police have described as a “fireball”, and can be seen frantically ripping off his burning clothes.

The man suffered extensive burns to the entire front of his body and head and was taken to hospital in a critical condition, according to the Western Australia Police Force.

A 24-year-old man was arrested in Rockingham last week and charged with one count of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.

He is next due to appear in Rockingham Magistrates Court on February 7.

Police then arrested a second man aged 50 in East Perth on Monday night.

He will face the same charges as his alleged accomplice.

The second man’s arrest marks the end of a statewide manhunt, during which Detective Sergeant Anthony Thompson said police would be “unrelenting” in trying to track down Mr Stitson.

He alleged those involved in the incident were not members of an outlaw motorcycle gang (OMCG) but did “subscribe to the lifestyle” and had “associations with gangs”.

“There is no place in our community for this kind of violence, (and) we will not tolerate the brutal violence in our community,” Sergeant Thompson said.

“If you are thinking about joining a gang or think this lifestyle appeals to you, watch the footage and think again.”
