Brothers Callum and Jake Robinson have been farewelled by family and friends at a private memorial service in Perth, six weeks after they were killed alongside their friend while on a surfing trip together in Mexico.
Callum, 33, Jake, 31, and their American friend Jack Carter Rhoad, 30, were killed after they went missing in late April while they were camping on a surf trip in Baja California.
Mexican police allege the three men were shot in the head by locals attempting to steal the tyres from their pick-up truck.
Their bodies were found at the bottom of a well, a short distance from the campsite.
The memorial service took place on Saturday afternoon at Sacred Heart College in Perth’s northern suburb of Sorrento, where the brothers attended school.
Parents Debra and Martin Robinson paid tribute to their sons as they delivered an emotional speech to the 800 grieving friends and family watching the service, which was also live streamed, 7News reports.
“We loved that Jake was curious, kind and happy and never judgmental,” Ms Robinson said,
“Callum always made a conscious decision to wake up and be positive every day. He saw so much fun in life,
“We miss you beyond description, Callum and Jakey boy, please shine on us.”
Ms Robinson said her sons loved life and followed their dreams.
“They were intelligent, respectful men with so much more to offer the world,” she said.
The service included a photo montage filled with images of the much-loved brothers, and childhood friends also paid tribute to the pair.
Mexican authorities arrested Jesus Gerardo Garica Cota, also known as “El Kekas”, along with his brother Cristian Alejandro and girlfriend Ari Gisel in connection with the Jake, Callum and Jack Carter Rhoad’s deaths.
