THE mother of murdered Brunswick woman Jill Meagher has called for more CCTV cameras as the 29-year-old's husband thanked the community for its support.
As more than 30,000 people flooded Sydney Rd, Brunswick, an emotional Edith McKeon made a brave visit to the street where her daughter was last seen alive.
She embraced strangers at the march and took in flowers and cards left as tributes along the busy street, including dozens left outside the Duchess Boutique where the ABC radio employee was last seen alive early on September 22.
Mrs McKeon hugged the owner of the shop, whose in-store CCTV footage proved crucial to the police investigation.

Ms Meagher's husband, Tom, took to Facebook after the march to express his gratitude.
"Thank you to everybody for the overwhelming support and kind words," Mr Meagher posted on the social networking site.
"I'm still wading through all the messages, but please understand that they are a great comfort. Thank you all."
Mrs McKeon also thanked police and the community for their "huge support".
"It's just unbelievable," Mrs McKeon said at the march.
"Just thank you, simple thank you and I hope they put more cameras in here. Keep people safe."
Her call for more CCTV cameras was backed by Police Association boss Greg Davies.
Sen-Sgt Davies said the investigation into the disappearance of Ms Meagher, a unit manager at ABC local radio, might have taken much longer without CCTV evidence.
Mrs McKeon also thanked the media for its "amazing work" in covering the disappearance.
Ms Meagher was captured on Duchess Boutique's CCTV talking to a man wearing a blue hoodie early on her short walk home after a night out with colleagues.
Adrian Ernest Bayley, 41, has been charged with raping and murdering her.
