Emergency services workers rescued two men from a Toyota Hilux ute at 5.15am yesterday.

Both men were trapped in the car, which flipped on the freeway between Palmers Rd and Boardwalk Blvd in Point Cook.

But the rescue soon turned sour when police found a firearm in the ute.

A 42-year-old Bundoora man has been slapped with 30 charges including firearm offences, bail offences, reckless conduct endangering life, possessing proceeds of crime and a number of drug and traffic offences.

He was remanded and will appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.

A 30-year-old Ascot Vale man was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
