US election 2024: Donald Trump and Kamala Harris embark on final day in campaign battle
Donald Trump has delivered a bold final speech ahead of the polls opening, where he promised to lead the country to “new heights of glory” and into “the golden age of America”.
Welcome to our US election blog — Kamala Harris and Donald Trump have embarked on a final frenzied campaign blitz with both hitting the must-win state of Pennsylvania on the last day of the tightest and most volatile US presidential election in memory.
On the eve of Election Day, surveys nationally and in the seven swing states where the result is expected to be decided show a total deadlock.
Mr Trump held his first rally of the day in Raleigh, North Carolina, before heading to Pennsylvania. He held his final rally of the day in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Ms Harris spent the whole day campaigning in the rust-belt state of Pennsylvania, culminating in a huge rally in its biggest city Philadelphia, which featured Lady Gaga, Oprah Winfrey, Katy Perry and Ricky Martin.
Pennsylvania is crucial to the result and Mr Trump and Ms Harris will hold competing rallies in its former industrial capital, Pittsburgh.
Key moments on the campaign trail today include:
*Joe Rogan endorsed Mr Trump for President.
*A veteran Republican strategist says pollsters have been getting it “wrong” by overlooking a “massive shift” in voter registration since the last election, which could tip the scales in favour of Mr Trump.
* Three of the Trump children joined their father at a Pennsylvania rally in a show of support.
* Rapper Fat Joe slammed Mr Trump over a comedian who called Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage.”
*US President Joe Biden has been noticeably quiet on the trail since referring to Trump supporters as “garbage”.
* The Harris campaign is betting big on women voting against Mr Trump for abortion rights.
* Mr Trump has focused on migrants and the economy and dubbed political opponents the “enemy from within”.
