TV presenter Sarah Abo has spoken out following emergency surgery.
Abo, who withdrew from Carols by Candlelight 2024 said “thankfully all is good” after suffering a serious health issue.
The 39-year-old was set to co-host the show alongside David Campbell but was absent when the Christmas Eve show kicked off at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne at 8pm on Tuesday night.
Campbell hosted the show on his own after Abo was hospitalised on Tuesday and underwent surgery to remove her appendix.
The well-liked presenter, who has previously co-hosted Carols with Campbell, was unwell on Monday and did not take part in the show’s rehearsal.
Campbell announced to the audience at the Music Bowl and those watching on the Channel Nine broadcast that Abo would not be part of the show.
Abo has since posted to Instagram a photo of her watching the carols unfold from her hospital bed.
“Hello from hospital! Which is not where I thought I’d be tonight … but my appendix had other ideas!” she wrote.
”Unfortunately surgery has kept me from being at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl sharing this magical evening with you all, alongside my friend, the magnificent David Campbell. Doctor’s orders!
Thankful to all the hospital staff, Abo said, “It truly is the most wonderful time of the year.”
