A two-year-old child has died at a rural property in Tarnagulla in central Victoria.

Emergency services were called about 5.25pm on Thursday after reports the child was unresponsive.

The death was not treated as suspicious, Victoria Police said.

The child died at a property on the Wimmera Highway, about 47km west of Bendigo.

The exact circumstances surrounding the death were yet to be determined.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
