A Townsville woman and her child have been injured attempting to stop their car from being stolen.

A Townsville woman and her child have been injured attempting to stop their car from being stolen by a juvenile male.
Townsville Police were called to help the 41-year-old woman and her 10-year-old son who had their car “stolen by an unknown juvenile” from Fitzgerald Street in Kirwan at 4.35pm on Monday.
“The woman and boy tried to prevent the theft, however, were dragged a short distance by the car before losing their grip,” a QPS spokesperson said.
“The woman and child were both transported to Townsville University Hospital with minor injuries and abrasions.’
Townsville CIB detectives are appealing for public assistance to identify the male youth.
“The juvenile is described as First Nations in appearance, wearing a red bandana over his face with dark clothing and a black satchel.”
The car was found abandoned nearby on Cranbrook Street at 5.45pm.
Police are appealing to anyone who may have dash-camera footage or CCTV from Fitzgerald Crescent at the time of the theft, to contact them.
Investigations are ongoing.
