Townsville kids enjoy Teddy Bear’s Picnic at CastleTown Shoppingworld

Townsville teddy bear’s left the woods this week to enjoy a picnic with their little owners at a popular shopping centre.

TOWNSVILLE teddy bears left the woods this week to enjoy a picnic with their little owners at a popular shopping centre.

CastleTown Shoppingworld was transformed into a toy wonderland for five days holding its second Teddy Bear’s Picnic in the food court.

The picnic featured arts and crafts, story time in Playtown and food from Good Morning Coffee Traders, Boost, Donut King, Woolworths and Big Al’s.

Three-year-old Allira Wilson attended the picnic on Friday with her teddy bear ‘Daddy Bear’.

Allira’s mum Bree Wilson said the pair had a ball enjoying the treats and meeting new friends.

“I think the theme is fantastic and Allira loved it so much because she got to bring her special teddy along with her,” she said.

“All the mums sat down at the picnic tables to have a chat while the kids were in Playtown and we all made little puppets with paddle pop sticks together.”

Up to 48 picnickers could attend each day with eight tables accommodating six people in-line with COVID-19 requirements.

CastleTown Shoppingworld centre manager Katherine Langsford said the event had been a success.

“The Teddy Bear’s Picnic has again proved popular with customers for a second year in a row with all spaces fully booked prior to the first event occurring,” she said.

“It is so great to see so many families enjoy this free event each year and we are looking forward to holding our next event in the coming month with an all new theme.”

The young special guests were also treated to a free handmade goodie bag to take home including vouchers, a teddy bear cookie, a mini teddy and bear ears.
