Townsville electrician Steven John Anderson fine $11,500 after forgetting to renew electrical work licence
A local sparky has appeared in court for a third time after forgetting to renew his electrical licence.

A LOCAL sparky has faced a shocking payday after he appeared in court for a third time for working without an electrical contractor’s licence.
Steven John Anderson, 47, performed electrical work on 18 occasions between May 5, 2016 and May 27 last year when not licensed to do so.
The Townsville Magistrates Court heard he performed electrical wiring, cabling, conduiting and installation of electrical equipment.
There was no allegation the work was unsafe or defective nor Anderson was unqualified to undertake the work.
The court heard Anderson was first granted an electrical licence in 2005 and started his business in 2008. The prosecution said he was fined $2500 in 2009 and $4500 in 2014 for failing to have a licence.
Anderson pleaded guilty to five charges.
His defence solicitor Callon Rowbotham said Anderson was now fully licensed and had employed his partner to take care of his business affairs.
“He is qualified to do the work he has undertaken, it is simply an oversight of his to renew his licence when it is due,” he said.
“He may be very good with his tools but he is not very good with his paperwork.”
Magistrate Steven Mosch acknowledged the risk to the public was low but told Anderson it was troubling he was back before the courts.
Anderson was fined $7500 for carrying out a business when not holder of an electrical licence and $4000 for perform electrical work without holding an electrical work licence.
Convictions were recorded.
