A MAN who trafficked methamphetamine over a two-year period is estimated to have turned over $28,000.
Timothy Charles Arena sold to 40 customers between March 1, 2017 and March 15 last year.
The Townsville Supreme Court heard on March 15 last year, police executed a search warrant at Arena’s address.
Police found 9g of cannabis, .005g of methamphetamine, a glass pipe with dual smoking bulbs, a bong and a mobile phone.
Prosecuting for the crown Aaron Dunkerton told Justice David Jackson an analysis of the mobile phone, uncovered offers to supply.
“He offered to supply cannabis in excess of 80 times although the total amounts offered was 180g,” he said.
“The methamphetamine was the real part of his business. He supplied 75g over the two year period with a total turnover of at least $28,000.”
The court heard Arena would sell between .1g for and 3.5g of methamphetamine with 100 offers to supply found on the mobile phone.
The court heard the 31-year-old would also trade drugs for various items including rings, bikes and gaming consoles.
On July 25 this year, police arrested Arena and was found to have a brass smoking pipe, used and unused clip seal bags and a plastic container with cannabis residue.
Arena pleaded guilty to a range of charges including drug trafficking.
Defence barrister Harvey Walters said his client had a grade 10 education and did not operate a large-scale dealing business.
“The offending period, although protracted, was not a wholesale activity; it was a street level that is indicated by the quantity of the drugs which were sold over that period of time,” he said.
Having spent 88 days in declarable pre-sentence custody, Justice Jackson sentenced Arena to five years’ jail.
He will be eligible for parole on March 24, 2022.
