QUEENSLAND teachers will be honoured today for their hard work and dedication to their profession.
World Teachers' Day recognised in Queensland on October 30 this year, is a way for students to say thank you to their educators and mentors.
Glenn Connell has been a teacher for 32 years after he was inspired to join the education industry as a teenager.
Mr Connell specialises in off-road machinery and road transport training at TAFE Queensland’s Townsville Trade Training Centre.
Training students to work on bulldozers, diggers and highway trucks, Mr Connell said his passion for teaching was ingrained in his life.
“I love my trade. I’ve been in my trade a long time and I love imparting my knowledge on the students,” he said.
Mr Connell said he had trained hundreds of apprentices over three decades.
“It’s always a highlight for me when students I used to teach go on to become bosses and then send their apprentices to me for training,” he said.
World Teachers' Day has been celebrated in more than 100 countries worldwide since 1994.
