Townsville police have appealed for community assistance tracking down four people who attacked a woman in a Hyde Park shopping centre carpark before stealing her car.
A Queensland Police spokeswoman confirmed that they were investigating the incident which took place on Woolcock St, near the Kings Rd intersection, on Friday night.
“Police are appealing for public assistance following an assault and stolen vehicle in Pimlico (on) May 23,” the spokeswoman said.
“Investigations indicate around 8.12pm, four unknown offenders assaulted a woman in her 50s in a shopping centre carpark on Woolcock Street.
“The four offenders then stole the woman’s white Subaru XV and fled the scene in an unknown direction.”
Although the woman sustained bruising and lacerations to her face, paramedics were not required to attend the scene.
A witness reported seeing the Subaru hooning around Kirwan at around 8:30pm, while another shared an image to social media of the stolen Subaru dumped in front of Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church, on Ninth Ave in Railway Estate.
Police confirmed that the stolen white Subaru XV had been found at that location early on Saturday morning.
Investigations are continuing and police have appealed to anyone who may have relevant information or CCTV or dashcam vision to contact Policelink, quoting QP2500890541.
