In a massive coup for North Queensland, P!nk has announced a surprise show to finish the Australian leg of her Summer Carnival Tour.

The three-time Grammy winner will perform at Queensland Country Bank Stadium in Townsville on Saturday, March 23, 2024.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said Queensland was the only state where P!nk was playing three separate cities and Townsville would be the only regional stop.

“This is a great opportunity for everyone in Townsville to paint the town P!nk,” Ms Palaszczuk said.

“Major concerts like this bring visitors who spend millions of dollars in the tourism economy and support local jobs.”

Australia’s number one selling female touring artist is set to cover the largest distance of any touring artist around the country, playing a record breaking 15 stadium concerts with sales well beyond 725,000 tickets, making it the biggest selling Australian tour ever by a female artist.

Joining P!nk as support act on this show will be global superstar and multi-platinum award-winning Australian singer and songwriter, Tones And I.

Townsville Mayor Jenny Hill said locking in a concert like P!nk “confirms our city as the events capital of the North”.

“When a global superstar such as P!nk wants to bring her show to our city, we should take pride that Townsville is well-established as a ‘no-brainer’ when it comes to hosting major events and concerts,” Cr Hill said.

In a message to fans, P!nk said she was “super stoked” to visit North Queensland.

“I am super super duper excited to let you know that I am finishing my Australian stadium run in Townsville at the (Qld) Country Bank Stadium,” the singer said.

“Our whole family cannot wait to be in our home away from home and I just wish it wasn’t so far away ... so we’ll see you there!”

Tourism and Events Queensland CEO Patricia O’Callaghan said they were “stoked” to secure P!nk for North Queensland and the It’s Live! in Queensland events calendar.

“The vision for the Queensland Country Bank Stadium was to always secure world-class acts and put the region on the global stage and this is an excellent example of this vision turning into a reality,” Ms O’Callaghan said.

Thuringowa MP and P!nk fan Aaron Harper kicked off a petition earlier this year to bring the superstar to the city.

“This is a huge coup for Townsville and North Queensland and I’m so excited have such an internationally acclaimed artist come to the north,” he said.

Townsville and Mundingburra MPs Scott Stewart and Les Walker said the concert would be invaluable to Townsville.

“Queensland Country Bank Stadium has forever changed our city and injected millions of dollars into our city and local businesses which is why the Palaszczuk Government was proud to build this world-class facility,” Mr Stewart said.

“Having P!nk perform here next year will be a boon for the city and businesses throughout Townsville,” Mr Walker added.

Live Nation Australia chairman and Pink’s career-long promoter Michael Coppel said it had been “the thrill of a lifetime” to promote P!nk’s six Australian tours since 2004, and the 20th anniversary of that association will see her surpass 3 million tickets sold in Australia and New Zealand.

“Only fitting that we break new ground with the record to be set at her first show in Northern Queensland at Queensland Country Bank Stadium,” Mr Coppel said.

Live Nation Australia president Roger Field said P!nk’s only regional show was a taste of what’s to come in providing “a world-class pipeline of major events for Queensland”.

“P!nk’s Aussie shows sold out in minutes across the country, making the tour extension into North Queensland an exciting next step in meeting this unprecedented demand,” he said.

Pre-sale tickets go on sale in Townsville this Thursday, August 17 at 12pm with general public tickets on sale Friday, August 18 at 1pm via Ticketmaster.

“P!NK’s immense popularity across Australia is extremely hard to miss, and the addition of a show in North Queensland will be incredible for local fans,” Ticketmaster Australia managing director Gavin Taylor said.

“It is great to be part of the Queensland Country Bank Stadium story, and we can’t wait to see P!nk perform at the only world-class stadium in Townsville.

“We look forward to providing North Queensland fans with the opportunity to purchase tickets to their favourite artist and play a part in bringing this event to life.”
