A MAN who sexually assaulted a teenager sat with his head bowed as his victim read out her victim impact statement.
Peter Damian Crisafulli, 48 was in his 30s when he first sexually assaulted the 13-year-old girl.
The Townsville District Court heard Crisafulli asked the girl if she would like to try speed before squeezing the girl’s left breast.
Crisafulli then took her to a shed where he made the girl masturbate him.
Crown prosecutor Monique Sheppard said the man sexually assaulted the girl in a Charters Towers hotel room.
“He said to the complainant, quote, ‘I need you to do this, it would be really good for me’ unquote,” she said.
“The defendant pushed her down and forced the complainant to fellate him.”
Afterwards Crisafulli digitally raped the girl in the hotel room.
While the girl was 16-years-old Crisafulli pulled his pants down and made the girl masturbate him.
The court heard when the girl was 17-years-old Crisafulli forced her to perform oral sex on him.
Ms Sheppard invited the girl to read out her victim impact statement to Judge Gregory Lynham.
“I have no drive in life anymore. I feel as though I have no voice. I constantly feel lost. He has made me feel dirty and disgusting in my own skin and body. He has made me feel ugly on the inside and out,” she said.
“My depression and anxiety would skyrocket to the point I could hear my own heartbeat in my head. This was not a pleasant feeling to have as an adolescent.”
The man pleaded guilty to nine charges including four counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault.
Defence barrister Dane Marley said his client struggled with a drug addiction.
“At the time of the offending the defendant was using drugs which reflects the entries on his criminal history,” he said.
“He is no longer using drugs.”
Judge Lynahm told the man his crimes were “predatory sexual offending”.
“It is clear the complainant has suffered considerably as a consequence of your sexual abuse upon her,” he said.
“Your offending upon her has devastating and long-lasting impacts.”
The man was sentenced to four and a half years’ jail.
A parole eligibility date was for July 22 next year.
