A teenage girl is set to be sentenced for violent and sexual offences committed while she was a child.
The North Queensland girl who can’t be named despite now being classified as an adult, appeared in Townsville Children’s District Court on Thursday morning where she was arraigned on three offences.
She pleaded guilty to stalking, intimidation and harassment with violence, having intercourse with a child under 16 and distributing child exploitation material.
Judge Gregory Lynham outlined briefly what each of the charges involved saying the girl was alleged to have threatened a boy on numerous occasions, assaulted him, and made false allegations against him.
He also said she allegedly “controlled” who the boy spoke to in person and over messages and had consensual sex while he was under 16.
“You are alleged to have sent a photo of (the boy’s) penis to (an) Instagram account ... and got the account to post the photo publicly,” Judge Lynham said.
“Do you understand the charges I’m speaking about?” he asked her.
She simply replied, “yep”.
Defence barrister Ross Malcomson asked for an adjournment to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be submitted which would include a psychological assessment of the girl due to the serious nature of the charges.
His Honour adjourned the girl’s charges for sentence on July 4.
She will remain on bail.
