North Queensland Cowboys royalty Ty Williams to join on as senior assistant to coach for NRLW side
North Queensland’s Ty Williams shares his passion for promoting and encouraging the women’s side as he is set to play a crucial part in NRLW’s player development plan.

A North Queensland great is set to help increase the strength of the Cowboys NRLW side.
Considered as one of the North’s greatest try scorers, Ty Williams has revealed his excitement to help with the women’s football player development plan with his new role as senior assistant to head coach Ricky Henry.
The home-grown player appeared in 151 games across nine seasons for the Cowboys and will drive the strategic plan for women’s pathway development in NQ, which includes coach education and player development with the goal of building a sustainable talent pool which forms the main recruitment area to feed into the program.
Williams said he was excited to help grow women’s rugby league in the region.
“As well as helping Rick with the NRLW team, this role is about ensuring the women within our footprint have the best opportunity to fulfil their potential as well as creating a clear pathway from grassroots rugby league through to the NRLW,” he said.
“The future of the female game is exciting. I was fortunate to work in the male game as a coach for a long period, but when the opportunity came up to work with the Cowboys in the women’s space it was something I jumped at because I’m passionate about this area and this club.”
Cowboys Head of NRLW and Women’s Elite Pathways Anita Creenaune says they are delighted to welcome Ty back to the club.
“As an ex-Cowboys player from North Queensland, he has been through the development pathways in our organisation. Having someone who has experienced the same journey helping to form our women’s pathways is going to be an enormous asset to our club,” she said.
“Ty is invested in the women’s game, he has an excellent reputation as a coach and he knows the values of the Cowboys as a club from his time here as a player.”
