A Townsville businesswoman has changed tack from her more “burgers and chips” cafe and opened her second business, servicing more health-minded customers.
Danielle Davies owns Mello Cafe and Catering, and last month opened the doors of her newest venture, Lippy Latte.
While Mello slots into the CBD of Townsville, Lippy adjoins Muscle & Fitness Gym on Woolcock Street.
Mello is more burgers and chips - but plenty else - while Lippy is more protein-rich foods.
“They’re completely different,” Davies said.
The profits of Mello had paid for Lippy, Ms Davies said.
She saw the for rent sign as she walked into the gym to workout one day, and thought that could be her next step.
She is subleasing the space from the Muscle and Fitness, the two premises share an internal door and the food and coffee aromas waft through the gym.
“Because we’re in North Queensland, there’s beaches and swimming holes, it is the beach body town. So I feel like Townsville is very fit,” Ms Davies said.
“Everyone does Castle Hill and Mount Louisa. Everyone is very fit, they don’t want to see more fast food.”
With the protein-craving gym goers passing her doors, Ms Davies said she was going through a lot of peanut butter.
And the Lippy Latte name?
Everyone liked getting a coffee and having a chat, she said.
