A search is underway for the man who pulled a knife on staff at the Puma roadhouse in Charters Towers.

Police are searching for a man who pulled a large knife on a roadhouse employee during a terrifying robbery in Charters Towers.

Police responded to an armed robbery at the Puma Roadhouse on Thompson St, Mosman Park about 10.30pm on Monday.

Initial investigations suggest an unknown male suspect entered the roadhouse and began threatening the attendant with a large knife demanding money from the till and safe.

He stole a quantity of money and fled the scene on foot through the back door.

No on was injured during the incident.

Detectives in Charters Towers are investigating the matter and an adult male is assisting them with their inquiries.
