Two men have fronted court after they allegedly stole a van that police located at home in Heatley, where they uncovered a treasure trove of suspected stolen goods.
Lachlan Pearce, 18, and Joshua Edward Thomas, 32, recently appeared in Townsville Magistrates Court after police arrested them in Heatley on September 6.
Police attended a home on Wilkie St, Heatley, after an allegedly stolen Toyota HiAce van was spotted parked in the driveway about 2.30am on September 6.
While investigating, they conducted a search of the property and a large quantity of suspected stolen property — which mainly consisted of tools and hardware equipment — was located and seized.
Two Heatley men — aged 18 and 32 — were taken into custody at the scene.
Pearce has been charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, three counts of unlawful possession motor vehicle and one count of receiving tainted property.
He was refused bail when he appeared in Townsville Magistrates Court on Thursday.
His matters were adjourned to October 5.
Thomas has been charged with two counts of unlicensed driving and one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, burglary, stealing, wilful damage and use stolen number plate.
No application for bail was made when he appeared in Townsville Magistrates Court on Thursday. His matters were adjourned to October 13.
A police spokeswoman said the investigation is ongoing, and more charges may be preferred.
