A man who removed himself from a house party to avoid a fight saw him busted for drink driving after fleeing the celebration.

A man who removed himself from a house party to avoid being involved in a fight was busted for drink driving.
Kye Brian Jones, 22, had been drinking for almost 12 hours at a party before he decided to get behind the wheel of his car.
The Townsville Magistrates Court heard just after midnight on May 30 this year just after midnight when Jones came to the attention of officers swerving in between lanes.
Police prosecutor Cody Rowe said Jones returned a .173 blood alcohol concentration reading.
“When questioned in relation to the consumption of alcohol he said he had been drinking spirits from 1pm the previous day,” he said.
Jones pleaded guilty to a single count of driving under the influence.

Defence lawyer for Jones Morgan Whelan said her client was a fibreglasser and was fleeing two fights he had been involved in.
“He had been at a party all day and a fight had broken out, police came and shut down the party,” she said.
“Later that night Mr Jones has made the foolish decision to get in his car and leave the party as he had again become involved in the altercation.”
Magistrate Steven Mosch understood Jones’s motive for leaving but said it was an unacceptable thing to do.
“You should have found some other way to get away instead of driving your motor vehicle,” he said.
“You are a danger not only to yourself but to other road users.”
Jones was fined $1000 and disqualified from driving for six months.
Convictions were recorded.
