Townsville’s four-legged friends will be part of the family at the Rockpool Pavilion thanks to a new product range of ice-creams catered specifically for dogs.
The Doggie Ice Cream, crafted by Brisbane based company Hugo’s Ice Creamery, is on sale now for dog-walkers along the Strand to take advantage of.
Venue Manager Tayla Hancock said the reborn restaurant, which was redesigned in November of last year, has been feeling the love from the local community.
“It’s been a slow burn for us, but we’re seeing the community rally around it and I think everyone really wants to see it grow,” Ms Hancock said.
The restaurant now not only offers three flavours of ice cream to dogs, but families with dogs in tow can also use the deck without having to set their beloved pet aside.
“The Pavilion is multifaceted. We’ve got the restaurant side of things, we’ve got the kiosk here and we’re really trying to build that into a super family friendly community,” Ms Hancock said.
“I think a lot of people tend to forget that family also involves everyone’s four-legged friends. So we just wanted to make it as inclusive as possible. When we saw Hugos online, we just thought it was the perfect thing to bring here to Townsville.”
Dog owners can buy Strawberry and Peanut Butter and Bacon flavoured scoops to help their pets cool down, but the range of products also offers a Carob flavour, including coconut and dog-friendly chocolate.
The dairy-free product range uses a number of coconut substitutes in order to make them safe for dog consumption.
