C Bar on The Strand wins top prize for casual dining in North Queensland
C Bar's stunning ocean views and customer experience have helped secure the restaurant's position as one of North Queensland's top dining destinations.
The Strand’s C Bar has earned its spot among the top restaurants in North Queensland, taking home the best cafe casual dining award at the North Queensland Tourism Awards.
The restaurant has gained recognition across Townsville in its 25-year history, and owner Allan Pike said it was for good reason.
“C Bar is a very iconic restaurant in North Queensland, it’s been here for a long time,” he said.
“For us it’s about consistency, and the positive feedback we get around the pricing, the consistency and the quality of our staff, it gets mentioned a number of times a day.”
Mr Pike has owned C Bar for ten years, and said he was overjoyed for the restaurant to be awarded the best cafe casual dining award.
“It certainly makes us feel proud, but it also tells us that we’re on the right track,” he said.
“C Bar prides itself on the customer experience we have here, the quality of the food, the quality of the service, the quality of the staff we’ve got.”
The casual dining award was not the only honour they received at the tourism awards, also placing second in best restaurant, events conferencing, and a place in the Queensland awards for best experiences in tourism.
Mr Pike said the restaurant was proud to be recognised and continues to provide positive experiences for customers.
“It just tells us we’re on the right track, it’s what we’re doing, the training that we’re producing for the team to make sure we’re all here for the same reason, and that’s to make the customers happy,” he said.
Mr Pike said the restaurant’s breakfast menu was its most popular, and many customers come for seafood later in the day.
“Eggs benny, the Spanish eggs, the smashed avo, and I would say our pancakes would be some of the [popular] items for breakfast,” he said.
“For lunch and dinners, a lot of people are here for the seafood, so we do a lot in the seafood area.”
Mr Pike said the food isn’t the only thing people come for, with the restaurant’s stunning views and upgrades contributing.
“The transformation of our business in terms of the renovation has been fantastic for us, it’s been exactly what the community has been looking for,” he said.
“They’ve got shade out right over the ocean, they see turtles everyday, this morning we had a lot of batfish down here, we’ve got some reef sharks.”
