The Strand Park will undergo a transformation into a four-day fun factory for families and friends to ring in the New Year.
Brophy’s New Year Carnival running from December 30 to January 2 will entertain Townsville with its street flair.
Owner Elliot Brophy said he was looking forward to dazzling Townsville.
“There will be rides for the kids, carnival games like the laughing clowns and catch a duck plus all your showtime food like Dagwood dogs, fairy floss and local food trucks,” he said.
“It has been a tough year and everyone is looking for a bit of fun and to finish the year off with a bang while supporting local businesses.”
Taking Mr Brophy and his team 12 hours to set up, it is the second year in a row the carnival has been at The Strand Park.
This year the carnival has been transformed into a four-day festival from a one-day event.
Mr Brophy moved to Alice River at the beginning of the year with his wife and three young children and said he was thankful the show would go ahead.
“At one point we didn’t know if we were going to be putting this event on but luckily we are in North Queensland and here we are,” he said.
“There is entertainment that will suit everyone in the family and because of COVID-19 we don’t have the big rides, but hopefully next year we will be able to bump it up a notch.”
Entry is free and will abide by COVID-19 safe practices. Opening hours are 6-10pm.
