Almost two years on from when a mother was allegedly murdered by her son, a court has been told that the case has barely progressed.
Townsville man Bramwell Tyler-James Tallis was charged with murder, going armed to cause fear and serious assault with intent to commit crime or resist arrest after his mother was allegedly fatally stabbed on December 15, 2022.
On Friday morning in Townsville Magistrates Court, defence lawyer Mikayla Ward from the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Legal Services appeared on behalf of her client and told the court she had received no update from the mental health court in relation to the proceedings.
She asked the court for an adjournment to provide time for her to make contact with representation in the Brisbane mental health court.
Police allege Mr Tallis who was 25 at the time of the alleged offending stabbed his 44-year-old mother to death at a Wellington Street home in Mundingburra where the woman was then declared deceased at the scene.
Magistrate Cathy Wadley adjourned the charges to December 6.
No pleas have been entered.
