Townsville moviegoers are preparing to spend Boxing Day enjoying new release flicks while escaping the summer heat.
Wonder Woman fanatic Aleesha Shimeld has been counting down to the release of Wonder Woman 1984 today.
Ms Shimeld said she hoped to be first in line to the 11am session at BCC Cinemas Townsville Central.
“I bought my tickets as soon as the tickets went on sale three weeks ago. I literally had the cinema website open on my phone for weeks checking the pre-sale,” she said.
“I would have gone to the 9.45am session but I needed some time to put a Wonder Woman outfit on.” She dyed her hair blue and red in honour of the movie and said it was going to be a Boxing Day to remember. “I am so excited because we haven‘t had many good movies this year and it will be great just to be in a cinema,” she said.
“I wouldn’t normally go out on Boxing Day but maybe I can make it a family tradition.” An Event Cinemas spokesman said Boxing Day was the start of a “jam-packed summer season”.
“We’ve seen robust pre-sales for Wonder Woman 1984 in the lead up to Boxing Day sessions,” he said.
